  • Made with 100% Godello grapes
  • Excellent depth and ripeness
  • Impressive clarity and persistence

91 Points - "The 2010 SAT Godeval is a bit fresher and more expressive. This nicely proportioned white will drink well through 2016. The founders of Godeval deserve much of the credit for rescuing the once nearly extinct Godello grape and making the first Godello-based wine in 1986. Both vintages were fermented and raised in stainless steel with a small portion of the wine aged sur lie." -Robert Parker, Wine Advocate

COMPOSITION: 100% Godello

91 Points - "Greenish gold. Pungent citrus pith and quinine aromas are brightened by incisive minerality. Vibrant lemon and lime flavors are pleasingly taut and focused, gaining heft with air and taking on a deeper pear quality. Smoothly balances bright citrus and orchard fruit qualities and finishes with impressive clarity and persistence." -Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

90 points - [Refers to 2007 vintage] - "Bright gold. Strikingly fresh, complex bouquet of white flowers, pear, blood orange, smoky minerals and lees. Racy and sharply focused, with intense orchard fruit and floral honey flavors underscored by tangy minerality. A suave blend of vibrant and rich qualities, finishing with strong mineral bite and lingering citrus notes." -Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, September/October 2008.

[Refers to 2007 vintage] - 90 points - "The 2007 Vina Godeval is 100% Godello, one of Spain’s more interesting white grapes and one that was virtually extinct until its rediscovery 25 years ago. 2007 was an excellent vintage in Galicia with rain at flowering reducing the crop by 40%. The wine was stainless steel fermented and aged sur-lie. Medium straw-colored, it has an enticing bouquet of mineral, citrus, and lemon-lime. This leads to a concentrated wine with excellent depth, ripeness, and plenty of spicy fruit on the palate. Drink it over the next two years." -Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, Issue 178.

Bodegas Godeval helped revive Galicia's Valdeorras DO and its unique Godello grape. The Godello grape, once widely planted in the Valdeorras Region, was almost extinct until the founders of this winery, Horacio Hernandez and Jose Luis Bartolome, revived it 24 years ago.
