  • Made with 100% Tempranillo grapes
  • Good balance and medium length
  • Excellent concentration
  • A great value!

90 Points - "Vivid purple. Aromas of cassis, cherry, licorice and mocha. Dense, alluringly sweet and juicy, with excellent concentration to its chewy dark berry and bitter chocolate flavors. Stays sweet through the persistent finish, which features silky, fine-grained tannins and lingering spiciness. This wine always delivers serious value." -Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar.

COMPOSITION: 100% Tempranillo

88 Points - "The 2009 Codice Tinto is exceptional in the terrific 2009 vintage. It is 100% Tempranillo planted at 2700 feet and aged for 6 months in tank followed by 6 months in French and American barriques. Scents of Asian spices, incense, violets, mineral, and black fruits jump from the glass of this dense, layered, value-priced offering. It over-delivers in a big way and should drink well for another 4 years." -The Wine Advocate.

[Refers to 2007 vintage] - 87 Points - "The purple-colored 2007 Codice Tinto is 100% Tempranillo aged for six months in tank and six months in French and American barriques. The nose gives up a hint of mineral, spice box, and black cherry leading to an easy-going, smooth, spicy wine with good balance and medium length. Drink it over the next three years." -The Wine Advocate, June 2009.

[Refers to 2006 vintage] - 89 Points - "Youthful ruby. Suave raspberry, cherry and boysenberry aromas are spiced up by cinnamon, mace and vanilla. Juicy red and dark berry flavors expand on the palate, betraying no rough edges and gaining depth on the close. A warm baking spice quality lingers on the sappy finish. The fruit here is amazingly fresh and seductive; this drinks like a $30 wine, easily. As usual, a superb value." -Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar.
