The anticipation of sweet notes of anise, layered into this smooth, rich dark chocolate are enough to make your mouth water before you take a bite. Chocolate Orgániko offers some of the finest artisan chocolate bars we’ve ever found in Spain, and their innovative flavors continue to amaze us!

Back in 2006, a young couple decided to follow their dream: to make world class chocolate using the most pure, organically grown ingredients they could find. Before long, people took notice, and their chocolate bars have now won awards in England, Germany and Spain.

This particular bar, which is 56% dark chocolate, is made with organic Trinitario cocoa beans, a premium variety known for its intense flavor. The artisans at Orgániko use the highest quality beans they can buy, from the Dominican Republic and smaller Caribbean islands.

In their workshop in a neighborhood in Madrid, these chocolate masterminds infuse the luscious dark chocolate with green anise. This spice, known for its licorice-like flavor, imparts sweet and aromatic notes in each handmade bar.

One bar is the perfect treat to share with a cup of rich Spanish coffee after lunch. We often keep a few on hand, to delight guests who long for a taste of modern Spanish delicacies or to bring as a housewarming gift that all can enjoy.

Ingredients

"These chocolate-anise bars are fabulous. The dark chocolate has a nice deep flavor and the anise is fairly subtle. Interestingly, the taste just gets better as you eat. I think I consumed half a bar in just one sitting! VERY pricey, though."
