These two types of cookies from Tolosa earned their fame the honest way: crispy, crunchy goodness made from all natural ingredients. Fresh butter, toasted almonds, eggs, flour and cane sugar - what more could you ask for! They've been a favorite partner to coffee and tea for nearly a century and now you can enjoy them in your home.
Cigarrillos begin as thin cookies, hot out of the oven. While they are still soft, they are hand-rolled into their distinctive shape, perfectly crisp and crunchy! Tejas are the same butter cookies coated in toasted almond slivers, and are shaped like famous terra cotta roof tiles of Spain. Both are delectable treats for your table.
Casa Eceiza was founded in Tolosa, in the Basque region, by confectioner Luís María Eceiza in 1924. Since then the recipe and hand-made methods have remained the same, preserving the goodness that made these cookies famous nearly 100 years ago.
About 8 cigarillos and 6 tejas cookies per tin.
